signal.boost will amplify independent creators in the cyberpunk and futurist scenes in an era of algorithmic noise. As online platforms increasingly fragment into hyper-targeted niches, signal.boost attempts to keep in line with the decentralised ethos of cyberpunk, providing networked promotion to highlight and curate alternative, non-corporatized artists across digital mediums.

Artist: MYRA TV

MYRA TV [ YouTube | Instagram | bandcamp ] began releasing music as a solo producer in 2018 with a style that could be best labelled as an experimental blend of electronic ambient, breakcore, and drum and bass. Originally, the artist started as a multi-instrumentalist that was involved with several Brisbane bands before starting out out on their own.

MYRA TV’s tracks traverse between poppy chiptunes, grungy guitars, glitching drum machines, and distorted vocals – pulling the listener across an auditory map, from nodes of ambient introspection to thudding action-sequence amen breaks.

The artist’s catalogue appears highly curated, comprised of carefully selected gems developed from an extensive time spent experimenting and layering sounds. Many of MYRA TV’s tracks directly reference online culture and their heavy use of electronic instruments arguably places them within a kind of new, post-2020 cyberpunk genre of music.

Album: Gloom Circuit

Gloom Circuit plunges listeners into a cyberpunk-infused exploration of emotional and technological themes, tackling loss, guilt, and escapism. References to simulated worlds and anti-social screentime layer the album with a distinctly dystopian edge.

The music moves between frenetic, glitchy digital hardcore and quieter, introspective ambient moments, creating a dynamic and engaging sonic landscape. MYRA TV’s anguished, expressive screams amplify the intensity of the vocal tracks, while instrumental passages provide space for reflection. Fans of moody, glitching digital sounds like IglooGhost or Machine Girl will find Gloom Circuit compelling. Similarly, those into dark, gritty cyberpunk anime, such as Serial Experiments Lain and Ghost in the Shell, may find a similar, albeit more contemporary, aesthetic soundscape in Gloom Circuit.

The album is a raw and unfiltered journey through both personal and technological turmoil – high energy and multi-faceted. The tracks lack the repetitive drone that can dominate similar electronic work. It’s the kind of music that suits fast-paced activities; a spirited drive down gritty, city streets at night.

Track Highlights

HELLMOUTH DX

A zipping, warped-cassette synth weaves through ticking, computerised breakbeats, conjuring imagery of a high-velocity hovercraft smashing through a holographic racetrack.

HAUNTER

MYRA TV’s wound-up vocals spit resentment and question reality, from within the walls of a pneumatic factory lit by glowing terminal monitors.

Hardcore thumps and synthetic rainfall support brutal screams with a somehow hopeful message for the future.
